Christmas day came early at the Sturrocks, not bad for free, thanks to 41thirtybikes and GHPUK

Well where do I start , I guess from the beginning , I received the GHP Pro XXL as a prize from GHP UK , WOW is my first thought as I opened the box with the candy red / white F&F combo.

Every Kitchen needs one... Kettle, Tea, Coffe, sugar, GHP frame and fork set. Even the wife loves Greg!

The F&F are stunning the welds and finish are second to none, the shine on the candy red is stunning, it must be even the wife LOVED it, the clean welds are as good as anything on the market nice and clean and all uniformed.... this is a top draw F&F. if the bike rides half as good as it looks I am in for a real treat. The build of the bike went ahead without any hassle or problems, a good sign of quality and craftsmanship in my book.

Due to some typical British summer weather I had to wait to take Greg {the name I have given my GHP} out for its first track session, even then it was a wet dark summers evening , so off we headed to Barnard castle {the hub club} for a test.

Strong smooth welds and delicious thick paint, GHP quality.

The GHP was set up the same as my old Free Agent, I was still a little concerned about the top tube length with it being a 21.75 tt and me being a stocky 5ft 6inch tall, I had a few runs around the track to get use to it a slow speed and the first thing that I did notice was how direct the power was when you cranked out of a berm or after a jump.....direct and no wasted energy ...

So after half an hour and a few tweaks with the bar position time to do a few gates on a Bensink with Greg , WOW STUNNING!  the GHP came out of the gate like a bat out of hell ......the direct power was awesome it just went, nothing is wasted as you power down a straight on it , to be honest I was thinking on putting the chain ring up a tooth.

The top of the seat tube has a unique frame design giving strength and a great looking frame feature.

The next thing I noticed was the bottom bracket is a little lower than I was use to, by my tape measure a 1/4 of an inch ......I love the lower BB it makes the bike more stable .

A few more weeks have now past since the first session on the GHP and a few more tweaks here and there , lower front loader stem , new S&M race bars and the bike feels FANTASTIC . I now have a lot more confidence on the bike the previous TT length is not a problem.

Solid dropouts hold the back wheel nice and tight, no wheel slip here Mr Greg.

The GHP loves to been ridden fast around a track its stable either in the air or on the ground, there are no surprises waiting around the corner if you don’t get things right.
The handling is very neutral, it seems to smooth out rhythm sections with ease, manualing thru sections is made very easy .

Greg the third man now firmly in the lifes of the Sturrocks!

Conclusion....
very forgiving
very quick
direct power.....loves to go straight quickly

1 of the old schoolers had a ride on it yesterday ... and I quote "it’s AWESOME" his other quote was .....It’s straighter than chuck Norris’s sexuality. ..lol
my son has also had a few goes on the GHP and we timed him through a section and he was nearly 1 second quicker than on his FA team “only" Limo .....
